Editorial context

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board approved three-year contracts with its teachers and support staff unions, ending about 18 months of negotiations. The deals include retroactive and future raises, added leave provisions and a new health plan starting in 2027 with a larger district premium share. Union members had ratified the agreements by wide margins.
